I have always loved the freedom of creating and interpreting abstract art. The appreciation of abstract art is all about the way each piece elicits different emotions and memories for each of us.
I usually work on multiple paintings at the same time, moving between them as they evolve, and allowing each piece and the whole series to move and engage. Each painting is an emotional expression of encounters with nature and landscapes. Garden flowers, shrubs and trees, magnificent sunsets and sunrises, mountainous and seaside terrain, all combine to inspire color palettes and composition. Inspired by nature, this art provokes moving and sometimes intense feelings.
I paint intuitively so the color and composition of a piece or series come together as each painting and layer is developed to inform the next layer. I’m never quite sure how each piece will look when finished because each painting is the construct of an emotional journey that is deeply personal.
Emotions can be a surprise and bring forward images that are powerful, appealing, and mysterious. My hope is that each piece will arouse an emotional response in you that is wondrous and exciting.
